DELI-N-STUFF Hosting a European Harvest Open House Sat 10/3 Noon-4pm

Family owned and operated Deli-N-Stuff is hosting a European Harvest Open House on Saturday, October 3rd from Noon to 4pm. Deli-N-Stuff is located at 4178 Dix Hwy in Lincoln Park in the old StarLite Bakery building. With the help of their teenage children Erich and Alicia, owners Brian and Missy Szymanski opened Deli-N-Stuff this past August. Brian and Missy say they already have a loyal following of customers.

Deli-N-stuff is a full service deli that offers soups, salads and deli sandwiches made fresh while you wait as well as breads, cookies, specialty products including European pastries kifli (crescent pastry), kolache (nut roll) and homemade sausage.

Brian is especially proud of the sausage; he says “the recipe has been handed down through four generations in his family. Owners, Brian and Missy want Deli-N-Stuff’s products to reflect their Hungarian, Romanian and polish heritages. “Food has always played an important role in our families especially during the holidays”, says Missy. The European Harvest open house is a perfect opportunity for the Szymanski’s to share their love of good food with the neighborhood and community.

The family will offer free samples during the open house of the homemade sausage, the Kifli and Kolache. In addition to free samples the family is offering several specials the day of the event: buy 3lbs of homemade sausage and receive 1lb of prepared coleslaw, potato or macaroni salad free. They are also featuring a special on turkey deli meat - $ 1.99/lb.

Owners Brian and Missy Szymanski are excited about their venture and when asked about the timing of opening a business, “We always wanted to start a business and we feel like we can offer a more economical alternative in the neighborhood to other local delis”, says Brian. Missy adds “that it really was an idea born out of necessity.” She had been driving once a week to southwest Detroit to pick up lunch meat to feed their teenage son Erich. “Deli meat is a staple in the American diet,” she says– and added that “if they can sell it a cheaper rate than grocery stores, than why can’t we.”

Deli-N-Stuff already plans to expand their offering to include catering for events and to corporate clients. Their specialty products will also be available to pre-order for the upcoming holidays.
